Our company had its foundation laid in 1980, in the summer between my 1st and 2nd years of medical school where I had a summer job with the Dean’s office. My main assignment that summer was to coordinate all of the dean’s letters for the senior medical students who had applied for internship/residency positions. During this time, I gained tremendous knowledge about how physicians were trained in the US and how the residency training process works in great detail.
After many years of practicing obstetrics and gynecology in Dallas, Texas, I developed an eye condition that extremely limited my ability to perform surgery.
I ultimately had to retire from my practice and take medical disability. I started to search for some other career since I was too young to completely retire. Since I was a physician and had to use my medical disability insurance, it made sense to me to sell medical disability to young physicians just starting out. I worked in this industry for several years.
I developed a system for myself to get referrals from my clients when I met with them.
The system involved collecting physicians in the United States and where they currently practice, what hospitals they have privileges in, and where they completed their medical school, internship, residency, and fellowship training.
Over the past several years I have developed a database of physicians (MDs and DOs) in all 50 states in relation to how well they know each other. The system is based on collegial relations from medical practices, hospital and clinic settings, medical school classes, and internship, residency, and fellowship training programs years.
My leads referral system has been very successful for sales professionals in the United States who have businesses that work with physician clients and need new referrals.
